Current events point more than ever towards End Times prophecy, with Satan racking up acolytes to cast his web of lies. Are you unwittingly helping him to corrupt humanity?
I’ve heard and seen a lot of people lately saying they feel evil in the world like never before. I don’t know if it’s because that’s what the algorithms want us to feel or if something is really happening, but I have to agree.
Lines drawn: left and right mean nothing
It feels most obvious in the political realm, with each side convinced they’re righteous and the other side evil; but left and right are just the latest dividing line in an age old battle, with righteous and evil on both sides of the political spectrum. The real line is Good and Evil, not liberal and conservative, Christian or other religions, poked or unpoked, black or white, male or female or anything else.
Satan will not rise by announcing himself and inviting us to choose him over God. Does a child molester approach his prey with his privates and tongue hanging out, wearing a label saying, “Hello, my name is PERV”? Of course not. He comes as a trusted priest, neighbor, family member or teacher offering love and acceptance, puppies and ice cream.
The Great Deceiver
I’ve come to believe Satan deceives in three primary ways:
1) Makes us question God’s word. 2) Gaslights – massages the ears and tells us what God surely means, what He really said. 3) Perverts God’s word into palatable memes that appease Man, not God.
In the beginning…
The battle between good and evil is so central to God’s teachings, examples of Satan’s influence began in the very beginning, with Eve and the forbidden fruit.
Eve knew about God’s warnings, but the devil convinced her God SURELY would not deprive them of such a delicious gift. God just didn’t want them to know as much as He knew. But, the devil massaged, they were smart enough to handle whatever knowledge God could dish out.
These first humans had fruit beyond their wildest imaginations in the garden, but the devil tickled Eve’s ears until she felt justified in eating the ONE fruit God forbade.
Genesis 3:4-5 The serpent said to the woman, You surely will not die! For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil…
Even then, from one of the very first Bible stories, God knew that Man would be obsessed with being like Him in all the wrong ways. He knew the devil would manipulate Man into such choices again and again; and that many would do as Eve did – proceed on our own will without seeking His.
Beginning with Adam and Eve, the Bible shows us how Satan slithers his way into our souls, using God’s gift of Free Will to ensnare and enslave us (“…for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved.” Peter 2:19).
“But I won’t be fooled by Satan! If a snake shows up talking smack, I’ll tell him to get lost!”
Eve’s choice might seem like a no-brainer. Don’t listen to smack-talking snakes, right? But even after Eve, the Bible warns again and again about the devil’s sly deception.
Why so many biblical references?
Peter 2:18-19 “For speaking out arrogant words of vanity they entice by fleshly desires, by sensuality, those who barely escape from the ones who live in error, promising them freedom while they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by what a man is overcome, by this he is enslaved.”
Daniel 8:25 “And through his shrewdness He will cause deceit to succeed by his influence; And he will magnify himself in his heart, And he will destroy many while they are at ease. He will even oppose the Prince of princes, But he will be broken without human agency.”
2 Timothy 3:13 “But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.”
Matthew 7:15 “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”
Matthew 24:24 “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.”
Mark 8:33 “But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”
Jeremiah 50:6 “My people have become lost sheep; Their shepherds have led them astray. They have made them turn aside on the mountains; They have gone along from mountain to hill And have forgotten their resting place.”
Devil infiltrates the Divine Dozen
All the way up to the Last Supper, when Christ washed the feet of his disciples, including the man who would betray him…
John 13:2 “During supper, the devil having already put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Him…”
…we’re admonished again and again to be vigilant to the devil’s deceit.
Did Judas know the devil had massaged his ears to betray his master and act in the interests of Man and not God? Doubtful. I would imagine Judas – like most believers – would never knowingly join forces with Satan.
The thief in the night
The devil doesn’t show up and say, “Hey, I’m the devil. Betray God and sacrifice your eternal soul!”
That would be foolish. He massages the ears, justifies the easy route, assuages guilt, convinces us of what God really means, that we deserve to bend God’s will to suit our comforts. He gives cover for cowardice and makes righteous our weakness, then he revels in our sin.
Is it God, or Satan?
God doesn’t just jump into my head and tell me the right thing to do. That’s not how it works. But the devil will, and if I want to sin badly enough, he’ll convince me God would be okay with it, because this time is different. My case is special. Surely God didn’t mean…
The devil is nothing if not accommodating. Without prompt or invitation, he tells us what we want to hear, promises worldly gifts, and lulls us into believing the easy way is the right way. His ultimate goal is to corrupt humanity. He doesn’t care what happens to us once we’re separated from God. The souls of believers are icing on the cake.
This one bears repeating: Once we are overcome by Satan’s lies, we are separated from God and enslaved (Peter 2:19).
How can I know?
Only when I ask, can I know whose ideas I’m adopting. Only when I read God’s word can I confirm I’m operating on His will – not mine.
What does the devil promise if we believe him over God? What does God offer? Eternity is a heck of a lot longer than my puny little life on earth. I’d rather work a little harder and have a little less while I’m here than spend eternity separated from God, without hope for salvation.
What do I know?
“Pffft. Bible schmible… God schmod… What do you know?”
I know very little. That’s why I turn to God, who knows all. If I turn out to be wrong, I’ve spent my time on earth trying (and failing) to emulate the greatest man in history (WWJD?)

The FDA announced it approved Pfizer’s COVID vaccine amid great fanfare. But what data did they use to advance from EAU to full approval during a new outbreak of a different variant? The same data used to approve the EAU. But the news gets even worse.
