Daily Bread
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever.
Amen.
We each interpret scripture in our own way. I believe our personal discussions with God lead each of us to perceive whatever God needs for us to perceive in order to carry out His will.
Many interpret the line in The Lord’s Prayer, “Give us this day our daily bread,” literally, as a plea for physical sustenance to keep us from starving to death. I’ve always interpreted the line to encompass the myriad ways we feed ourselves – our bodies, our minds, and our souls. I believe whatever we choose to consume is the bread that sustains us.
With that interpretation in mind, I thank God for the gift of physical sustenance, and ask Him to feed my mind with knowledge and discernment, and my soul with His word, the courage to accept His will, and the strength to carry it out.
This blog shares observations, discoveries and revelations from my prayers for Daily Bread. I pray my journey inspires you to feed your own mind and soul.
